John 15:4-7 Bear Fruit
“Reman in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up and thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you” (NIV).
“If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit….” Before a tree bears fruit, it shows flowers—no flowers, no fruit. So flowers are indications that fruit is on the way. So it is with us; we must flower before we can bear fruit, and how do we flower? Jesus gave us the answer at the Last Supper when he told us that we must remain in Him. When we remain in Him and He remains in us, fruit is inevitable; it can’t be hidden. Not all fruit is the same. We are each prepared to produce particular fruit just as the flowers below are prepared to produce particular fruit. Look at the following flowers, enjoy the love of the Lord, and imagine what the flower that God has prepared for you looks like.
